The People of SMK Gunung Rinjani Lombok
A Message from Ms. Sariah
I understand firsthand what it means to struggle for an education. As a child from an underprivileged family, I had to stop attending elementary school twice because my mother couldn’t afford the fees. It was the kindness of two teachers who intervened and helped resolve the situation that allowed me to continue.
Later, a scholarship for outstanding students helped me complete high school, and a generous professor from Bali supported my university education. She even gifted me land on Lombok and encouraged me to sell it to fund my studies here. The kindness of others shaped my entire learning journey.
These experiences brought me to SMK Gunung Rinjani Lombok seven years ago, where I served as vice principal for student affairs before becoming principal in early 2024. Every day, I see students with the same determination I once had – they deserve the same chances I was given.
As principal, my mission is simple: ensure that no child’s potential is limited by their family’s financial situation. Education transformed my life, and I believe it can transform theirs too.
